Most times we are unnecessarily careful about many things.  Youths tend to care about what clothe to wear, which school to enroll, what career to choose, which University to attend etc; and often forget to pray.  Care breeds anxiety which usually leads to worry and frustration.  God has given us instructions on what to do in the Bible: “Be careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God” Jesus Himself said, “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”  (Matthew 6:27).

Life challenges that could cause anxiety are numerous.  Many youths become anxious or worried when they experience disappointment, unfulfilled dreams, and failures in goal realizations, family problems, persecution and financial crisis.  The youth's needs that could not be met and the expectations unrealized can also lead to anxiety.  To be anxious is to be worried, wearied and to wonder away from praying.  Worry paralyses faith and renders believers impotent.  Do not allow worry and anxiety by being careful about your situations.  Learn to take your burden to the Lord in prayer and leave it there.  The scripture says, “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing Psalms” (James 5:13) Prayer brings the answer through the hand of faith.  Whatever may be your condition today, get rid of worry and anxiety through prayer and supplication.  Do not forget to thank God for who He is.  God is faithful.  He will answer your prayers.

Challenge:       Worry and anxiety are enemies of faith

Prayer:             Help me oh Lord to live by faith, free of worry and anxiety
