  WORDS OF WISDOM

The words we speak could mean more than we can ever imagine. Words spoken can be weighty. What we say out when we speak can make or mar lives depending on whether they are positively or negatively decoded (interpreted). Spoken Words are very important and not reversible. What the women said when they were singing banished David into exile for over a decade. What Michal, the daughter of Saul said made her barren for life (2 Corinthians 6:20-23). Believers should be very conscious of what and how they speak. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver”. There are words spoken in due season (Proverbs 15:23), from a wholesome tongue (Proverbs 15:4) and seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6). There are gracious words from the mouth of the wise (Ecclesiastes 10:12). They are words of wisdom.

Christian youths should watch what they say and how they speak. What you speak out tells volumes of stories about you. Jesus said authoritatively in Mathew chapter twelve, verse thirty four “… out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”. You can take precautions against evil speaking and develop your skills of positive thinking. Follow the following principles:

*          Be swift to hear and slow to speak (James 1:19)

*          Let your words be few (Proverbs 10:19)

*          Speak only when you have something important to say.

*          Give soft answer whatever be the provocation (Proverbs 15:1).

*          Keep your heart with all diligence Proverbs 4:23).

Try to audit your past to see how you have been talking. You will need to take definite decisions on how you will guide your heart and keep your mouth. The word of God says that “he that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life …” (Proverbs 13:3).

Challenge:       Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

Prayer:             Help me keep my tongue that I will speak no guile, Oh Lord”
