A company invented Scotch brand transparent in tape? 1929. This product is reported to be earning them over 105 billion Naira (750 million dollar) per year today. What is quite interesting about this adhesive tape is the primary intention of the scientist who invented it. The engineer actually was working on producing a seal for insulation, the need which the newly invented could not meet. But when it was tried on mending torn papers, it did a marvellous job. The adhesive tape was hence invented by mistake which today makes the company to tell success stories.

Nobody wants to make mistakes but it is good to make mistakes and take corrections. Some youths will not want to speak English or answer questions in the class so as not to make mistakes. Companies which are afraid to make mistakes will never stumble on new inventions. They will not even try to apply creativity and innovations in the organization. Students who are afraid to make mistakes will not learn to be perfect through trial and error. “Practice makes perfect”, people say. There is no way you can master what you have not practised. When you practice and make mistakes, take note of the corrections and turn your failure to success. This is the way to academic excellence.

As you go to school today or this week, make up your mind that you will participate in your class sessions. Be determined to answer your teachers' questions after each lesson. Also prepare to make contributions during your class discussion. Do not be afraid of any mistake. It is good to learn from one's mistake and make it a stepping stone to success.

Challenge:  Mistake makes for mastery.

Prayer: Help me, Oh Lord to learn from my mistakes and that of others.
