Youth is the age of achievement. At 17, Joseph had dreamed his dreams. At 16, David had won his greatest victory. At 12, Jesus had discovered His life purpose. At 19, Spurgeon had become a nationally acclaimed Pastor. At 6, Mozart had become an accomplished performer on the piano. At 20, Alexander had ascended the Macedonian Empire and a few years later had conquered the then known world. These are but a few of the long line of youth prodigies who found their destiny early in life and lived it to the full. They had a mission and that kept them from wasting time and life as most youths do.
Here then is a question for you. Now you are 13 or 14, perhaps 18 or 21, have you discovered your life's mission yet? If not, then you are getting late! Have you an overriding passion, a compelling, commanding dream? All ordinary youths will play and trifle but those that would eventually lead the pack will plan and program themselves for the role.
Which one are you, leader or laggard? Now is the time to gather together all the God-given abilities hidden in you and direct them towards your life's pursuit. And you can be sure that you will not be alone in the effort, God will definitely not leave you alone in your striving to become His dream for you. So, go ahead and be a youth with a mission. Start today. Start now.
Challenge: Time is life. For me, there is no more time-wasting but purposeful living.
Prayer: Help me to discover my life's mission and help me to live it in Jesus' name. Amen.
