Praise is powerful.  It is pleasant to God and profitable to man to praise the Lord.  The cherubim's and seraphim's have it as their duty to worship and praise the Lord.  The twenty four elders together with the innumerable number of angels in heaven join their voices together in singing praise to God. The saints who are the sheep of His pastures must have it as their priority to praise God who inhabits the praises of His people.  Believers must have passion for praise to the God our salvation.  The godless praise themselves and hail great people of the world, nobles and princes.  Believers praise the LORD only and do not join the godless in the praise of man.  You need a burning passion for praise like that of David, David composed poems and wrote many psalms of praises to show his appreciation to God.  In our text, he made a passionate appeal to his soul to praise the Lord; He resolved to praise the Lord while he lived.  He went further to call on angels, animate and in animate creatures to join him in praising the Lord (Psalm 148:1-14).  David's exemplary passion for praise remains a challenge for us today.

You too have a lot of reasons why you should praise God.  A brief look into your life, family, academic experience, daily activities, health condition and your general well-being will reveal God's mercy and faithfulness that demand for praises.  You can praise God for his provisions, preservation, protection and power over your life.  Praise God for your people, progress and plans, Praise God for everything and in everything.  This is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Challenge:       The power of praise opened the prison door (Acts 16:25,26).

Prayer:            Create in me Oh Lord great passion for praise.
