  MENACE OF MURKY MUSIC

This morning's text is a revelation of what happened at the time of Moses.  Israel backslided at this time and God was not happy with His people.  Aaron had made a golden calf for them to worship. “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play”.  Their kind of play was characterized with noisy songs, which Moses and Joshua heard from the mountain.  Joshua thought it was the noise of war but Moses said, “It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear” (Exodus 32:18).  Their idolatrous worship was characterized with noise-making, dancing and singing.  It was an embarrassment to Moses and Joshua the servants of God.

A lot of noise-making dancing and singing also characterize the activities in some places of worship today.  If Moses and Joshua were to be around, they will equally be embarrassed.  The confusion caused by the menace of murky music's that have taken over inspirational songs in today's churches has made it difficult to distinguish between godly and godless assemblies.  The band sets, the drums, the nudity of dancers and the disco song presented in “praisco” styles in the name of worship are serious menaces of the present day gospel assemblies.  The bringing of pop music to the holy sanctuary is a modern sacrilege of the highest order.  A true child of God must beware of murky music composed in the name of spiritual songs.  Such songs are perilous to your souls and spiritual uplifting.
